04.04.2022 - From Dream to Reality!!! WE DID IT. A historical day for Filipino American Business Association of Glendale (FABAG-GLAC), the City of Glendale, Fil-Ams and residents of LA County as we unveiled the Filipino-American FRIENDSHIP MONUMENT!!! First of its kind in Glendale, LA County and CA. From 2019 planning, through the pandemic, to the last 8 months of processing and going through the City process, it finally happened. “A Tribute, in Commemoration and a symbol of Gratitude and Everlasting Friendship, that’s our Fil-Am Monument. This one’s for you, Ruby.” - said Editha Maniquis Fuentes, Past President, Board Member and Chair of the Special Projects Committee who spearheaded this project. Outgoing Hon. Mayor Paula Devine said - “So proud, that my final act as Mayor, was the unveiling of the Filipino American Friendship Monument. The only one in California. A tribute to 32 years of service and a symbol of lasting friendship and collaboration with our city. It is also a tribute to Ruby de Vera, a wonderful leader and inspiration for this monument. Congratulations to all.” Attended by more that 70ppl, everyone was so eager and excited to see the actual Monument.
