CITY OF GLENDALE PROCLAMATION

Whereas, the Filipino American History Month is celebrated in the United States during the month of October. This was established by the Filipino American National Historical Society to recognize the achievements, contributions and historical presence of Filipinos in the USA;

Whereas, October was chosen because the first recorded presence of a Filipino in the Continental United States was in October 1587, and October is also officially recognized by the California Department of Education:

Whereas, the City of Glendale recognizes the increasing number of Filipino-Americans who live and work in the City and therefore join in the celebration; and

Whereas, the Filipino American Business Association of Glendale will celebrate Pilipino-American History Month with a free and small reception on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Glendale Adult Recreation Center located at 201 E. Colorado St.,

Now, therefore, I, Daniel Brotman, Mayor of the City of Glendale, together with the Council members, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2023, as
